Family health and nutrition concerns are increasingly influencing
household food purchases in the US, according to a new study by the
Food Marketing Institute (FMI) and Prevention magazine.
Nutrient levels in fruits, vegetables and some food crops have
dramatically declined in the past 50 years, something that could
further push consumers to opting for more nutritious organic goods.
Health and wellness has become a hobby for many consumers and is a
major contributing factor in the rapid growth of the functional,
organic and health foods markets according to a new report from
Euromonitor International.
The US organic market growth is being stunted by undersupply,
resulting in shelves remaining empty, companies withdrawing from
the market and others looking internationally to supplement supply
needs, says consultancy firm Organic Monitor.
