Alliance unites technology and ingredients players

Nevada-based Nutri Pharmaceuticals Research Inc (NPRI) said it would use its patent pending technology to bring a range of Illinois-based, SourceOne Global Partners, oils to market in powder form. These include CoEnzymeQ10 and omega-3s in free-flowing powders and may broaden their application potential. The technology sends ingredients – either alone or in combination – through a colloidal delivery system that transforms them into water soluble form. The companies said applications included two-piece powder-filled hard caps, veggicaps and instant powder uses that include beverage powder sachets, meal replacement shakes and protein shakes. "NPRI is proud to join forces with SourceOne, a company focused on innovation and a proven leader in delivering powerfully branded, science-driven products to market,” said Godfrey Yew, NPRI chief executive officer. “We have watched SourceOne grow its compelling portfolio of products and technologies, and have now identified additional opportunities for strategically aligning our interests . ” O2P NPRI’s technology is called O2P (oil-to-powder technology). It is designed tyo convert oils, gels, extracts, pastes and other liquid compounds into powders and is said to avoid the effects of oxidization that are typical in the drying process of ingredient manufacture. The O2P process uses a gravity flow process conducted in an oxygen-free environment that allows the powders to hold up to 70 percent oil content, versus a more regular 40 percent. It can also deliver GMO-free, starch and vegetable-based ingredients. “NPRI’s intellectual property portfolio is highly complimentary to the relationships SourceOne has already developed with global partners,” said Jesse Lopez, CEO and founder of SourceOne. “The synergies created by these partnerships are directly and immediately applicable to SourceOne ingredients and formulas in various forms and concentrations. SourceOne recently signed a deal with omega-3 concentrates manufacturer, Twin River Technologies (TRT). The ingredients, which are made in a cGMP facility and which target the dietary supplements market, consist of omega-3 triglycerides, the form normally obtained from foods. According to the company, TRT’s essential fatty acids contain the highest percent of EPA and DHA as a triglyceride that is currently available on the global marketplace. “Higher purity and better stability with less odor and fishy taste afford broader applications, consumer appeal, and ultimately consumption,” said the company.
