But as Danisco Bioactives president, Fabienne Saadane-Oaks, told Jess Halliday at Vitafoods Europe recently, the company remains upbeat about a sector that his working harder than ever to deliver the data that will win favour with EFSA’s health claim scientists soon.
“I think we started the whole dialogue pretty far apart in terms of understanding each other and I think we have made great progress,” she said, highlighting strain characterisation as one area of progress.
“It’s about discussing the scientific issues and the files that need to be built.”
