Informed-Sport is run by LGC-owned HFL Sport Science and is one of the most comprehensive sports supplement-testing programmes for contaminants like steroids and stimulants such as DMAA (1,3-dimethylamylamine/methylhexaneamine).
Informed-Sport is a rigorous risk assessment programme created in close consultation with UK Anti-Doping. While it is never possible to guarantee that any product is 100% free of contamination, bodies such as UK Athletics recommend that their athletes can use certified products knowing contamination risks are minimised as much as possible.
Trusted Pro Supplements stocks Informed-Sport certified products in the knowledge that every batch of every product is tested before being released to market for a wide range of compounds that appear on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) prohibited list.
Trusted Pro Supplements chief and founder, Jamie Ashdown, an ex-professional footballer, said: “Trusted Pro Supplements works alongside Informed-Sport, the quality assurance programme which certifies that all nutritional supplements and/or ingredients that bear the Informed-Sport logo have been tested for banned substances.”
He added: “Almost on a weekly basis we are reading about elite athletes who blame supplements for failed drugs tests – Asafa Powell, Marin Cilic, Jesse Ryder – but I think the people who need the most information are grass-roots athletes, people who may be tested for drugs and may not have access to a sports scientist or an advisor to help guide them.”
Terence O’Rorke, business sector manager for LGC’s supplements programmes, said: “We are delighted that Trusted Pro Supplements share our passion for clean sport and for helping the global sporting community to educate themselves on the risks of inadvertent contamination through supplements.”
