Zeke Stevens, product development executive for the ingredients supplier, told NutraIngredients that the technology allows the ability to control the release of ingredients to either avoid spiking or to delay the effect of ingredients.
"The beadlet technology is a new and exciting development and we've made it applicable to all types of [formats].
"If you want to avoid spiking of ingredients, such as caffeine or others, you can sustain the release of the active over a period of times, say a four hour window which would be perfect for caffeine.
"You can also have a delay of a certain active. This can work well in a pre-workout as it will allow you to take the pre-workout and it gives you time to get into the gym and get into your activity before these ingredients hit."
He added: "The third and probably most significant benefit of beadletting is bitter masking.
"We have beadletted BCAA along with glutamine and caffeine in a bitter masking shell so you can incorporate these essential pre-workout actives into a powder blend and your consumer will not taste it."
