BASF and Gelita select Azelis as European product distributors
The agreement with BASF sees Azelis distribute its health and colourant ingredients throughout Greece that may include vitamins, omega-3 fatty acids, plant sterols, carotenoids, human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs) and peptides.
Effective immediately, the agreement builds on an existing partnership between Azelis and BASF Human Nutrition in Turkey, which involves the distribution of pigments used in paints, inks and special applications.
Commenting on the latest agreement, Dr Gabriele Lang-Wittkowski, director of sales management at BASF Human Nutrition, Europe says, “BASF and Azelis have been working together for over 20 years now, in many different industries across the globe.

The two organisations have a number of agreements in place with SammiChem, a part of the Azelis group, responsible for the distribution of BASF’s aroma ingredients for the flavours & fragrances speciality market in South Korea.
The multinational chemical company also relies on Azelis for delivery of diols, polyalcohols, acids and specialties in the Americas region as well as polymer dispersions for the asphalt industry also in Turkey.

Gelita deal
Meanwhile, Azelis also confirm the formation of an agreement with Gelita, which involves the distribution of gelatine-based products for the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries in France.
“We chose Azelis to distribute our pharmaceutical gelatine products in France because their teams are highly qualified, skilled and professional,” says Didier Peycelon, sales director pharma Europe at Gelita.
“With a good knowledge of the market, great customer intimacy as well as their professional standards, Gelita will rely on Azelis as a new partner to develop our sales on the French market.”
Best known as a manufacturer of gelatine and collagen peptides for the food, health & nutrition and pharmaceutical industries, the deal represents the first-ever partnership between the two organisations.

“The Gelita gelatine product portfolio is very complementary with our current pharma product range in France, and we’re delighted to start providing it to our customers.”
Azelis have familiarity of the country having already extended an agreement in 2018 with Tagra Biotechnologies to offer their range of Release on Demand micro capsules in France and Benelux for personal care applications.
The microencapsulation technology provides stability, efficiency and controlled/immediate release for non-water soluble ingredients including actives, vitamins, essential oils, flavonoids, silicones, pigments and sunscreens.
