With new products flooding the market aimed at boosting health, here's a round-up of some of the latest shakes, sweets and flavourings to make it that little bit easier, and tastier, to get the nutrients our bodies need.

A protein shake has been designed specifically for children who are struggling to grow. Nutritional Growth Solutions, Healthy Heights’ range flagship product Grow Daily 3+ was developed and tested by paediatricians as a holistic solution to nourish growing children aged from three to nine and the creators say it provides nutritional support for picky eaters.

The formula contains a precise ratio of macronutrients (whey protein, carbohydrates, and fat) and micronutrients including L-arginine, vitamins, and minerals to help children grow. The shake mix contains ingredients recognised as safe (GRAS), comes in three flavours—chocolate, vanilla, and a neutral flavour.

Company Prolifica says it has come up with a way of meeting the needs of the "increasing vegetarian/flexitarian community by producing a texturised pea protein which can be shaped into several combinations of shape and size meeting the protein and taste needs of those eating it. Ideas include pea protein burgers, sausages and meatballs".

Odour-free garlic gummies

Pharmactive Biotech Products has introduced Aged Black Garlic+ with a sweet, more sociable flavour that is odour-free and so suitable for functional gummies. The company says the ingredient is science-backed and delivers wellness benefits and won’t stimulate reflux the way fresh garlic can. Grown from a special variety of garlic, and cultivated just two hours from Pharmactive’s facility, it is gently processed using green technology. This method generates very low waste and significantly reduces the environmental impact.

Pharmative says this advanced aged black garlic ingredient comes at a perfect time, "upcoming regulations of the EFSA and European Commission will reduce the amount of red yeast rice allowed in existing formulations to just 300mg, therefore losing EFSA-approved claims for monacolin K."

Global life sciences company, Bioiberica is also bringing chicken sternum extracted collagen to the market. The company said Collavant n2 is a trusted source of quality native – undenatured - type II collagen extracted from chicken sternum. Endorsed by multiple scientific studies, Bioiberica explains it is highly efficacious at a low dose.

The company says: "Oral administration of Collavant n2 helps to maintain joint health through a mechanism of action called Oral Tolerance, all at a low dose of 40 mg/day. It is an immune-mediated mechanism that claims to help regulate the body’s response to endogenous type II collagen, reducing its degradation while supporting healthy joints."

Cheesy yeast

Vegans with a need for vitamin B, will be pleased with the cheesy and nutty yeast powder to be added to food from Super Nooch, at the Notorious Nooch Co.

Containing 100% of the nutrient reference value of B12, and extra B vitamins, this powder known as nooch, is a nutritional yeast from a form of deactivated yeast, known for its strong cheesy and nutty flavour. Popular in the plant-based community, its distinct flavour has inspired its popular use as a cheese substitute, and it is known as a significant source of fibre and protein.

The recommended daily serving of one to two tablespoons, is especially useful for those following a plant-based lifestyle. The vegan brand says its mission is to "make it easier, tastier and more fun to rethink meat and dairy".
