With a host of new products being introduced in the market boosting health benefits, here's a round-up of some of the latest supplements, oils and flavours to make it that little bit easier, and tastier, to get the nutrients our bodies need.

Bioactive salmon peptides in a powder form aim to maximise nutrient delivery for muscle tissues, according to producer biomega.

Named biomega SalMe Peptides, the peptides are produced from salmon off-cuts and are suitable for a wide variety of health nutrition applications.

Dr Silke Middendorf, CCO at Biomega, says: “We are delighted to announce the launch of our biomega SalMe Peptides, which are 100% naturally processed, sustainable, and pure salmon proteins.”

She explains that they are easy to digest and are absorbed by the body faster than intact native protein, which maximises nutrient delivery to muscle tissues.

Middenorf adds: “They offer additional health benefits – such as maintaining energy and general vitality – due to their valuable B-vitamins, especially vitamin B12. Additionally, they indicate an improved body composition.

“For our customers, the more neutral taste and smell of our peptides deliver previously untapped potential for health food applications, particularly for innovations in weight management and active nutrition.”

CBD ayurvedic blends

Wellness start-up Biogenic has brought CBD blends created using Ayuvedic herbs to the UK market.

The company’s product portfolio now includes three full-pectrum CBD oils, in addition to a range of 20 edibles, vapes, joint and muscle balms, and a range that targets menopause symptoms including sleep disruption, anxiety, and inflammation.

According to Biogenic, the blends “combine the powerful healing properties of CBD with the essential terpenes and flavonoids found in the cannabis plant to deliver fast-acting results”.

The products are aimed at consumers who want to make a difference to their wellbeing and adopt a long-term holistic lifestyle.

John Brennan, Co-Founder of Biogenic, says: “Despite the growth of the CBD market and awareness in the UK, many consumers are still confused about its effects, dosing, and benefits.

“Biogenic aims to simplify CBD, drawing on the proven benefits of ancient Ayurvedic herbs to enhance our CBD blends and offer tailored products to suit everyone.

“As people whose lives were transformed by CBD, Nicole and I are passionate about natural prevention and are on a mission to encourage more people to adopt a holistic lifestyle and harness the power of CBD.”

Omega-3 supplement for children

Scandinavian health and wellness brand Zinzino is now extending its range of BalanceOils to kids.

Based on the same blend as its signature Polyphenol Omega Balance food supplements, the company’s new BalanceOil Tutti Frutti is made with pure, premium fish oil and extra virgin olive oil, which is known to content high levels of natural antioxidants.

According to Zinzino, the supplement includes specific dosage recommendations to meet the Omega-3 needs of children and intends to “safely restore their unique fatty acid balance while supporting normal immune, eye and brain function”.

Dr Emmalee Gisslevik, Research and Development Specialist at Zinzino, says: “Children have a higher rate of metabolism, an immature immune system and faster cell division, all of which impact their overall Omega ratio in the blood.

“Not all bodies are created equal, and children need special dosage recommendations. A weight chart is not always enough as a guide and that is why this new release is such an important contribution to the Omega-3 market.”

Botanically enhanced cod liver oil

True Westfjords, an Icelandic manufacturer of cod liver oil, is offering a botanically enhanced range called Dropi intended to boost overall health and vitality.

With its new 100% pure, natural, extra-virgin cod liver oil in its rawest form, the company wants to create a new category of clean fish oil that assures the retention of its long-recognised health benefits”.

Cod liver oil, which is believed to be an essential source of the fat-soluble vitamins A and D, also naturally contains full spectrum Omega-3 fatty acids, including eicosapentaenoic acid, docosahexaenoic acid and docosapentaenoic acid fatty acid.

Óttar Kristinn Bjarnason, Director of Sales and Marketing for True Westfjords, says: “Our ancestors knew something about the beneficial qualities of cod liver oil even before it came under scientific scrutiny - and they knew how to glean its full value.

“We source our cod liver exclusively from the local daily wild catch of fresh fish that swim in the deep blue waters of the North Atlantic Ocean, one of the cleanest fishing grounds in the world. We have a close relationship with the local fishermen, on whom we depend to supply us with fresh cod livers as we complete the oil extraction process within 24 hours of receiving them.”
