NutraIngredients has announced more expert speakers who will be joining the Active Nutrition Summit in Amsterdam on 9-11 October.

The Active Nutrition Summit​ is taking place in Amsterdam on the 9-11 October. This year’s event has been designed to embrace a wider, holistic and mass market view of the sports nutrition industry.

The immersive three-day experience is set to delve into essential content pillars – women's health, life-stage nutrition, cognitive health, communication strategies, and personalisation.

Aligned with these pillars, the summit will explore diverse and significant trends shaping the nutrition industry landscape. The summit promises to open a gateway to network with experts, gain practical takeaways, and stay ahead of the rapidly evolving field of nutrition.

New speakers revealed

Decision makers from Holland & Barrett, Lisa Tookey and Guy Farmer, will be discussing how to remain relevant and innovative in the fast-evolving sports nutrition market, specifically highlighting how the retail giant is working to better cater to the female consumer with its merchandising and campaigns.

Discussing the nutrition needs of the ageing athlete in a panel entitled 'going for gold in our golden years' will be, amongst others, Dr. Andy Franklyn-Miller, chief medical and innovation officer at Nuritas, and Dr. Justin Roberts, associate professor in nutritional physiology for health & exercise and senior team lead for muscle, performance & recovery at Danone Nutricia Research.

Delving into the topic of cognitive health, delegates will gain insights from a superstar of cognitive health nutrition research, Professor Andrew Scholey, from Monash University in Australia. He will will draw on three decades experience and over 100 clinical trials into the impact of nutrition on the brain, with insights into how cognition is measured and the biologically plausible targets which can be modified through 'nutra' interventions. 

Mariette Abrahams, CEO at Qina, a personalised nutrition luminary who has worked in the clinical and medical nutrition industry for over 20 years, will explore the newest technology and services in the market and offer a glimpse into future innovation. Attendees will learn how to tailor nutrition recommendations to individual needs, ensuring their messages resonate with target audiences.

The summit will share insights from Iris de Hoogh MSc, a scientist in personalised health who was one of the principal investigators in the world’s largest public private partnership on personalised nutrition and health and has published several research articles on this topic. Dr Hoogh will be sharing insights into the most innovative ways scientists are transforming the world of health and performance via personalised services.

There are many challenges and nutritional concerns regarding youth athletes and discussing insights into setting the right nutritional foundations will be Lou Antonio Matera, founder and CEO at Youth Sport Nutrition (YSN). Antonio Matera has established YSN to develop a bespoke food powder range to cater for the unique and heightened nutritional needs of young athletes.

Also joining the panel to discuss youth athletes is Sanne Kramer MSc, a Performance Dietician FC Utrecht, in the Netherlands, who is highly involved in guiding and supporting athletes from different disciplines, including water polo, handball, and cycling.

She is joined by Dan Richardson, Academy Nutrition Lead at Leeds United Football Club and a performance nutrition expert who supports elite-level athletes to optimise their athletic potential.

Completing the panel is Rafael Maza Diaz, a Performance Nutritionist at AFC Ajax NV since 2020 where he guides elite youth athletes with optimising their nutrition for performance and health.

Start-up stars

The nutrition space is a fast-paced and growing industry in which new ingredients, formulations and benefits are constantly inciting change, and the Active Nutrition Summit provides the perfect platform to highlight new innovations.
