Singapore start-up Needful is targeting young consumers to find an opening in South East Asia’s supplements market, which is said to be dominated by legacy brands.

In view of prevailing market trends, Joyce Tan, co-founder of Needful, told NI that one way to capture market share was to focus on the needs and earn loyalty from the younger generation - whose needs might not have been addressed by legacy brands.

For instance, the brand is highlighting product transparency and sustainability and introducing plant-based supplements that are perceived as “much cleaner” options.

German health supplement company Orthomol is scaling growth across Asia under the leadership of its new CEO.

Mainland China is a key priority this year, as the company prepares the launch of its first “blue-hat” registered product, Orthomol Immun.

South Korean firm Dong-A Pharmaceutical has launched a liquid sleep aid product alongside a range of health functional foods developed in collaboration with the Korean Pharmaceutical Association.

Called EasyQuil Night Act, it claims to be the first liquid formulation containing diphenhydramine hydrochloride as the sole active ingredient in the Korean sleep aid market.

Diphenhydramine hydrochloride is a first-generation antihistamine that helps with allergies, motion sickness, and short-term insomnia.

Amway Korea is embracing the emerging trend of nutrition to support longevity and healthspan with its newly launched personalized nutrition platform.

The platform, known as “myWellness LAB”, measures a person’s rate of aging based on three indices, namely cellular aging scores, metabolic efficiency scores and muscle balance scores.

The scores are calculated using three datasets: health check-up data, body composition test results, and health and lifestyle questionnaire results.
