Lallemand Bio-Ingredients has created a new ingredient designed to support metabolic balance.

The ingredient is a proprietary blend of selenium, vitamin D, yeast beta-1,3/1,6-glucan and zinc, selected for their individual benefits in supporting immunometabolic health. According to Lallemand, Re-vaya can be formulated in dietary supplements, including capsules, tablets, gummies, powders, as well as food and beverage applications, and contains vitamins and minerals that carry authorized health claims in multiple regions worldwide.

The company added that Re-Vaya launches at a time when consumer demand is shifting away from the traditional weight-loss narrative, reshaping the metabolic health landscape beyond weight management.

“There is a need for metabolic balance in all populations, not only in those who need to lose weight,” said Marcia da Silva Pinto, PharmD, PhD, category manager, healthy lifestyle at Lallemand. “For example, some overweight individuals can have healthy metabolic readouts and not be classified as metabolically unhealthy, while those not technically overweight can sometimes be clinically ‘unhealthy’.”

Dr. da Silva Pinto added that Re-Vaya targets the balance between the immune and metabolic cells within belly fat to normalize the communication between these cells and allow the body to restore metabolic functions. Communication between certain cell types, balanced or not, is a key factor in the development of an unhealthy or healthy metabolic state.

According to Innova Market Insights Top Health and Nutrition Trends 2026, ‘weight shift’ is a concept consumers are embracing, looking beyond weight management toward overall wellness and feeling good about themselves.

“Consumers are moving away from short-term solutions that lead to a ‘back-to-zero’ effect and are instead seeking sustained, long‑lasting benefits,” Dr. da Silva Pinto said. “Achieving this requires addressing the underlying causes. In the context of metabolic health, restoring metabolic balance and targeting immunometabolic pathways are emerging as critical pillars for long‑term benefit.”

Evidence behind the ‘balanced’ metabolic state

The ingredient is supported by data from a human clinical study conducted by researchers at the University of Exeter in England, and published in late 2025 in Frontiers in Nutrition.

“In both obesity and aging, adipose tissue undergoes pathological expansion, leading to the development of hypertrophic and dysfunctional adipocytes,” the researchers wrote. “These cells release a range of pro-inflammatory mediators that initiate local inflammation and propagate systemic metabolic disturbances.”

The study involved 15 participants who were part of a demographic experiencing unbalanced metabolic/immune communication. Small biopsies of excess belly fat were taken before and after consuming Re-Vaya for 28 days.

“Over four weeks, we observed a significant downregulation of key immune pathways in adipose tissue proteomics, along with a reduction in the secretion of pro-inflammatory cytokines by adipose tissue after supplementation,” the researchers added.

The proteomics and gene expression analyses conducted support an improvement in the cellular communication between immune and adipose cells in favor of a more balanced metabolic state, Dr. da Silva Pinto noted.
