SmartyPants Prenatal Plus Multivitamin Capsules are designed to meaningfully support a baby’s development with clinically informed nutrient levels, including 480 mg of choline per daily serving, delivering eight times more brain‑supporting choline than the leading prenatal capsule, SmartyPants said. It also features easily absorbed nutrient forms, such as folate as methylfolate and vitamin B12 as methylcobalamin, omega-3 DHA, alongside tummy‑friendly Ferrochel iron and neutral scent technology to support women sensitive to nausea.
“At the core of SmartyPants Vitamins, since its founding over 15 years ago, has been a life‑stage approach to nutrition, with a focus on supporting families from the womb as the very beginning of life, onward,” said Devyani Chaturvedi, senior nutrition research scientist at SmartyPants Vitamins.
“We have been a longstanding leader in prenatal nutrition, with our science‑backed Prenatal Multi and Omegas established as a core part of the brand’s portfolio for over a decade. Supporting women through preconception, pregnancy and postpartum is not new for us, it’s an area where we’ve built deep experience and consumer trust. The addition of Prenatal Plus Multivitamin Capsules builds on that foundation as our most robust and clinically informed prenatal formula to date.”
Choline is a critical nutrient during pregnancy, supporting lipid transport and fetal brain development, yet most women do not meet recommended intakes. It is recommended women take between 450 to 550 mg/day of choline, but typical diets and many prenatal supplements fall short, potentially increasing the risk of adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes.
“In this context, a formulation providing 480 mg of choline aligns well with these recommendations and can help effectively bridge the widespread intake gap in pregnant women,” Chaturvedi added.
A focus on capsules
Prenatal Plus Multivitamin Capsules expands SmartyPants’ prenatal portfolio by offering a capsule‑based option alongside its established prenatal gummies. This allows the brand to meet a wider range of consumer preferences and needs while maintaining a consistent focus on research‑driven formulation, clean‑label standards and third‑party testing across life stages.
“SmartyPants has historically been best known for our gummy formats, but our move into capsules marks an exciting new chapter for the brand,” Chaturvedi said. “Prenatal Plus is our first capsule product in market, and we have plans to expand further into capsules in 2027 as we continue evolving our portfolio to meet consumer preferences.”
The company said its innovation strategy is to enable parents to nurture their child’s highest development by deepening its commitment in the preconception and pregnancy space. SmartyPants has additional prenatal products in its pipeline, including a prenatal omega‑3 DHA gummy launching later this year.
“In prenatal care, decisions should be guided by the strength of the evidence, not trends or convenience,” SmartyPants’ Dr. Michelle Tsai, OBGYN and SmartyPants scientific advisory board member shared in statement. “Women deserve clear, high-quality formulas that reflect the latest research, especially during pregnancy, when nutrition is a critical part of clinical decision making.”
