TetraSOD, derived from the microalgae Tetraselmis chuii, is positioned to support cellular and metabolic health, with benefits in body composition and energy metabolism. The ingredient delivers high superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity and is reported to activate the body’s endogenous defense and adaptive response mechanisms. Cellular health is foundational to the function of tissues, organs, and physiological systems, influencing metabolism, immune function, and physical performance.
The algae extract also contains polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), vitamins, carotenoids, polyphenols, and phytosterols.

Micro-algae, macro benefits
Fitoplancton Marino developed a patented production method employing sustainable practices to maximize the content of SOD, lipids, and other key components.
The phytoplankton is cultivated and harvested in closed outdoor bioreactors in El Puerto de Santa Maria, near the Spanish coast. This technology enables cultivation under controlled temperature, oxygen levels, stressors, and nutrients to increase the concentration of SOD. No extraction is involved; the microalgae is simply harvested and dried into a fine, pale-green powder.

Scientific substantiation
Fitoplancton Marino has been building the science and IP behind the ingredient since 2006. TetraSOD is protected by 10 patents and backed by 17 peer-reviewed studies, said the company. The efficacious daily dose of just 25 mg has shown benefits across a range of areas, including metabolic health and body composition, physical performance and recovery, and cellular and systemic health.
T. chuii targets at least nine of the hallmarks of aging and has undergone in vitro and in vivo study. Research indicates that it stimulates antioxidant and anti-inflammatory mechanisms, primarily by activating transcription factor NRF2 and enzyme SIRT to enhance cellular defenses, supporting cognitive, metabolic and skeletal-muscle health.
