Bayer India’s newly launched Alka Seltzer is said to be the first antacid in the country’s ayurvedic category that comes with probiotic support.

The new product - an effervescent powder packed in single-use sachets - addresses the growing trend of consumers seeking products that offer digestive comfort, beyond simply immediate relief from gut symptoms such as acidity, gas and indigestion.

Creatine has become the largest SKU for Indian sports nutrition firm MuscleBlaze in sales volume and the company is now hoping to capture a wider audience with a new dosage format and highlighting creatine’s cognitive benefits.

Speaking to NutraIngredients, Kaustuv Paliwal, senior vice president, said the company was hoping to capture a wider group of users beyond gym-goers through a more user-friendly format and by highlighting creatine’s cognitive health evidence.

“People are recognizing the importance of or are feeling the importance and effects of creatine on lifestyle and cognitive health. The chatter has started in India,” said Kaustuv.

CJ Wellcare has unveiled new findings on strain-customized prebiotics and also announced a new partnership with a sleep tech start-up.

Its flagship patented strain Lactiplantibacillus plantarum CJLP133, for instance, showed a growth increase of up to 200 times compared to general glucose conditions in a specific oligosaccharide (GOS) environment.

This shows that combining strain-specific prebiotics can elevate the viability and functional activity of lactic acid bacteria. It now plans to apply genome analysis-based strain-customized formula design technology to develop next-generation products for its premium probiotic brand, BYOCORE.

G-NiiB launches first synbiotics for mental wellness support

G-NiiB has launched its first synbiotics for supporting mental wellness among children and adults in its home market, Hong Kong.

Known as G-NiiB Mood Well MQU10, the product makes benefit claims such as “significantly improve persistent sadness” and “significantly reduce excessive worries, fears and tensions”, based on findings of a six-week open-label study conducted on individuals with mild to moderate depression.

Lactobacillus plantarum, Streptococcus thermophilus, two Bifidobacterium strains, including Bifidobacterium adolescentis and fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are key actives used.
