Roche Vitamins, a unit of the Swiss pharmaceutical group, has opened a new production facility in South Africa which will manufacture vitamin premixes for the food industry and help reduce the levels of malnutrition in many African countries.

Vitamin E could play a key part in fighting Alzheimer's disease, according to a recent study of the effects of various antioxidants. However, the research also showed that vitamin E supplements had no significant effect on the onset of the disease.

Forbes reaches agreement with Novartis

After months of negotiations, Canadian nutraceutical products maker Forbes Medi-Tech has finally reached an agreement with Swiss group Novartis Consumer Health over the future of the Reducol cholesterol-lowering ingredient.
