UK ingredients supplier S. Black Limited announced recently the introduction of Ectoin from Merck KGaA, an active ingredient for the cosmetic industry. RonaCare™ Ectoin claims to stabilize the cellular immune system, protects the skin from heat and cold, and prevents premature ageing of the skin cells. Ectoin is extracted from the protective sheaths of micro-organisms that have existed in extreme and hostile environments for thousands of years. They inhabit salt lakes, saturated rock salt solutions and the extreme temperatures of the desert. Their protective coating, Ectoin, guarantees their survival in these aggressive settings. "Ection protects the skin from being damaged by stress factors like heat, cold and harmful chemicals in the environment by supporting the repair and protective mechanisms of the cells," says Merck researcher Dr. Joachim Bünger. RonaCare™ Ectoin in suited for use in a wide range of skin care, haircare and decorative cosmetic products.
