US fruit juice business Jamba Juice has launched a new smoothie containing blueberries, raspberries and strawberries - a mix the company claims offers a range of health benefits.

"The Grapeberry Crush is certainly one of the most tasty - and healthful - smoothies on our menu and there is no doubt that its fans are wild about it," said Kirk Perron, founder of Jamba Juice.

The 24-ounce smoothie has five servings of fruit and also provides a high antioxidant content. Antioxidants are compounds that fight free radical damage which can lead to certain types of cancer, cardiovascular (heart) disease, premature ageing and cataracts.

"It is the only smoothie we currently offer that has five complete servings of fruit. It's difficult to get your '5 A Day' of fruits and veggies on a daily basis, but Grapeberry Crush has gone where no smoothie has gone before," added Perron.

The beverage is made with Concord Grape Juice, blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and raspberry sherbet and has less than 400 calories. Jamba claims that blueberries deliver the highest levels of antioxidants out of 40 fruits and vegetables, although some studies may dispute this.

Jamba Juice sells its made-to-order fruit smoothies, juices and healthy snacks at around 340 company and franchised stores in the US. It can also be found at select Whole Foods Markets, college campuses and airport locations.
