Danish company, Chr. Hansen is to use the upcoming Vitafoods as the
launch pad for its new NutriPhy range of phytonutrients for dietary
supplements and functional foods.

The products, available as liquid, powder and beadlets for use in a wide-range of formulations and applications, is split into two categories: carotenoids and polyphenols. "Our natural carotenoids originate from palm oil, with a good carotenoids profile (35 per cent alpha and 65 per cent beta-carotene). We also offer lutein and lycopene, and we expect to add new, interesting products to the range in the near future," said Sami Sassi, business development manager, phytonutrients, Chr. Hansen. The polyphenols range is reported to included white and red grape polyphenols in varyingconcentrations, red cabbage polyphenols containing at least 20 per cent total polyphenols, and blackcurrant polyphenols containing at least 30 per cent total polyphenols. Polyphenols, antioxidant phytonutrients such as resveratrol, anthocyanins, catechins, and quercetin that are believed to help the body's cells resist damage by free radicals, are enjoying a growing popularity among food makers keen to tap into the burgeoning health and wellness market. Additional information concerning the expected demand and market availabilities was not available from Chr. Hansen prior to going to press. Chr Hansen experienced growth in all business areas and regions in 2005/06. Revenue for the year was increased by 8 per cent to DKK 3,767m (€505m), while organic growth amounted to 6 per cent. Operating profit (EBITDA) was increased by 25 per cent to DKK 624m (€83.7m). Excluding extraordinary restructuring costs EBITDA amounted to DKK 767m (€103m).
