Inneov calls for cosmeceuticals claims clarity
Inneov, the joint venture between Nestle and L’Oreal to develop beauty supplements, says regulatory clarity is needed in the area of beauty claims on non-topical beauty applications that in many cases fall between cosmetics and food law.

Michel Donat, PhD, the French company’s international director of regulatory affairs and product safety, spoke with Shane Starling after the recent European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) health claims summit in Brussels.

“It is very important to know how the legislator is going to consider these kind of claims,” he said.

“We are in the field of beauty claims, of products that affect the skin and the hair, and in some cases this may fall under the health claims legislation…but the interpretation of this is very different among different member states. We would like these kinds of things clarified at the European level.”
