Spanish supplier Genosa brought its olive extracts to Vitafoods Asia in Hong Kong this week where it found a recent EFSA-approved health claim resonated well beyond European shores.

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) backed the company's extract to manage LDL cholesterol levels, a rare plant extract positive opinion, that is helping the supplier establish itself in both Europe, the Asia Pacific and elsewhere, said CEO Carlos Pena Diaz.

"When EFSA declares that it means the science behind it is large. So it is very important for our agents to have that statement from EFSA definitely," Pena Diaz said.
