DG SANCO chief resigns after ‘sober’ disciplinary inquiry
Paola Testori Coggi, director general of the European Commission’s Health and Consumers unit (DG SANCO), handed in her letter of resignation in October following an investigation into a breach of tender policy. The director was said to have made an error of judgment when in 2012 she rang an NGO to alert it to the timing of a tender for a food-related study, something which was against Commission fair practice policy, in a room full of colleagues. The search for her replacement continues.
