CoQ10 leader Kaneka has re-worked its Ubiquinol branded CoQ10 heart, immunity, skin and energy nutrient in response to it “increasingly being imitated by fake products of inferior quality.”

The Japanese company has developed a new logo for Ubiquinol CoQ10 which it said it had spent 10 years developing a stable patented yeast-extraction process in the category estimated to be worth about €350 million according to Global View Research in supplements, food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

Fake material is not a new preoblem for Kaneka and other mainstream players as they have fought the issue from the get-go when Kaneka debuted in CoQ10 in 1977.

“As our manufacturing partners now can brand their products with the new logo, together we can give customers proof that they are buying a safe and traceable Ubiquinol product of premium quality,” said Filip Van hulle, Kaneka senior marketing manager.

CoQ10 majors include Kyowa Hakko US, Gnosis, DSM Nutritional Products, Hwail Pharmaceutical Company, PharmaEssentia Corporation, ZMC LLC and Nisshin Seifun Group.

The biggest market for CoQ10 food supplements is in the US, where it is commonly taken in conjunction with statin drugs for those suffering heart ailments.
