GOED has partnered the National Fisheries Society in Peru as the country aims to become a world-leader in the production of omega 3.

The partnership with Sociedad Nacional de Pesquería (SNP) acknowledges the key role the Peruvian anchovy fishery plays in the omega-3 industry.

This means all members of SNP, including 11 key Peruvian fishing companies, will become members of GOED.

GOED’s mission is to promote the consumption of EPA and DHA omega-3s around the world and Peru is the largest fishery supplying omega-3 fish oils to the global dietary supplement industry, which is a US$780 million business.

Ellen Schutt, Executive Director of GOED, said: “Having the backing of Peruvian fishing companies is very important to GOED. Both GOED and SNP are focused on supporting the Peruvian anchovy business and we believe our common commitment, which brought this partnership to life, will help grow the category overall.”

Cayetana Aljovin, SNP President, added: “Peru is poised to become a leader in the production of omega 3 in the world, thanks to the diversity of hydrobiological products offered by its sea. The alliance with GOED will allow us to achieve that goal. We are committed to the well-being of Peru and the world.”
