Improved access to healthcare products on UK self-treatment app
The health app logged record sales of hydration tablets (O.R.S Hydration Tablets) earlier this month thanks to the unprecedented heatwave which fostered demand for rehydration products and demonstrated the importance of ubiquitous access to solutions for unforeseen health issues.
The global biotech has innovated within the healthcare sector to develop products that fill “gaps of unmet medical needs” with a focus on wellness, nutrition, and “prevention of health problems”.
Access to its products and other brands significantly improved last year, when Clinova launched the full release of Caidr health app - complete with search engine that took five years to develop.
Clinova co-founder, Arsalan Karim said: “Caidr Search is both easy to find and simple to use. You simply type in a health topic you would like to learn about, and Caidr takes care of the rest.”
Rapid rise
Since its inception, Clinova has attracted the backing of prominent industry players, from Proctor & Gamble, Novartis, and Reckitt Benckiser, which has helped it achieve rapid, dynamic growth.
The company reported a 500% increase in annual sales in 2020, compared to the previous year, which was attributed to demand for key brands, O.R.S Hydration Tablets and Covaflu (disposable respirator face masks), and its ability to “understand and fulfil customer requirements with effective product solutions”.
In addition, it appointed former investment banker, Alessandro Barnaba, board strategy advisor for Clinova’s “next phase of growth”.
Easy access
The free app was created by a team of pharmacists and medical experts as a one-stop-shop for self-treatment of common medical conditions and helps consumers recognise minor illness from more serious conditions and reduce the healthcare burden.
Caidr search engine provides information on medical conditions, symptoms, prognosis, remedial tips, treatment options, as well as general advice, and employs a “natural language model” that enables reactive, systems-wide updates to content in just under 0.9 seconds, the company said.
Caidr’s language processor uses algorithms to design custom feeds from a lexicon of 97,000 medical terms and nine specialist fields.
In addition, the app has a messaging option and provides content on well-being, and localised health advice for overseas travel.
Barnaba explained that the app and products “hesolve real-life wellness problems at a time when healthcare across the world has never been more vital and, simultaneously, more stretched”.
Range of products
Healthcare products featured in Caidr result pages can be purchased directly through the app’s online shop, including Clinova’s portfolio of natural products.
This includes WAYK caffeine supplements (to boost energy and mental function), Magastic (aids digestion and metabolism), and Repelsect (insect repellent made from essential oils), which are also available in pharmacies, and other online shopping channels.
Clinova’s leading brand, O.R.S Hydration Tablets, is formulated to World Health Organisation hydration standards. The biotech is also the official hydration supplier to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
