Lehvoss Nutrition, headquartered in Germany, will now distribute three new solutions within its brand portfolio: Univestin, for joint support; Attenutin for respiratory health support; and Anivestin for joint discomfort and oral health in companion animals.
Dr. Qi Jia, president and CEO of Unigen, stated: “We are really excited for this new partnership with Lehvoss Nutrition to bring Unigen’s three ingredients into the European market.
“Unigen develops its proprietary, patented, and clinically proven ingredients through rigorous scientific research using our PhytoLogix Technology Platform, a database of comprehensive botanical profiles on over 12,000 plants and 15,000 extracts. This is synergistic with Lehvoss Nutrition’s brands' portfolio and philosophy.”
Teresita Rudà, head of brands and marketing for Lehvoss Nutrition, added: “We have followed Unigen’s developments and scientific research in the USA with great interest over the last six years, and we are very pleased that they see Lehvoss as the right partner for distribution in Europe.
“Both technical teams have done some great teamwork, spending almost 12 months to ensure regulatory compliance on these ingredients. We have finally achieved the stage where these three selected brands are ready for launch in Europe, our sales team is fully engaged and key customers have already started to look into them with great excitement.”
New ingredients for the European market
Univestin is designed to alleviate joint discomfort. It is composed of plant extracts standardised to two specific bioflavonoids, baicalin from Scutellaria baicalensis, and catechins from Acacia catechu.
The combination of these two extracts is said to produce a synergistic effect concerning both onset and duration.
Unigen claims to achieve this by modulating parallel enzymatic pathways that result in increased joint health support, increasing antioxidant activity which neutralises reactive oxygen species production and oxidative stress, and helping regulate gene expression, which ramps up the body’s natural cartilage production process.
Attenutin is designed for respiratory health support, by supporting the mucus membrane lining of the respiratory system and healthy lung function. It is composed of plant extracts Scutellaria baicalensis and Acacia catechu, which have a long history of safe human consumption for respiratory health. It has been clinically proven to increase the levels of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) highlighting its strong antioxidant activity.
Anivestin is formulated to provide relief for joint discomfort and support for oral health in companion animals. It is composed of extracts from two botanicals, Scutellaria baicalensis, and Acacia catechu, which have been shown in a canine clinical study to reduce joint discomfort effectively.
The three new ingredients can be used as active agents in tablets, capsules, liquids, powders, and other delivery systems.
Unigen, as a natural products research and development firm, specialises in the discovery and development of proprietary ingredients for the dietary supplement, food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical industries. The company discovers its ingredients through its high throughput screening PhytoLogix approach applied to a proprietary collection of botanicals and a legacy mining approach applied to botanicals having known medicinal benefits. Mechanism of action, safety and efficacy are documented with preclinical in vitro and in vivo testing and by human clinical studies. Unigen protects its discoveries with issued patents and patent filings in all major territories.
