Clasado appoints Ideactifs as French and Belgian distributor of Bimuno GOS
The new agreement grants Ideactifs distribution rights for Bimuno GOS as a B2B ingredient in the French and Belgian markets. This collaboration will support the expanding presence of Bimuno GOS in Europe and leverage the growing popularity of prebiotic products among health consumers.
As the most studied commercially available galactooligosaccharide, Bimuno GOS' safety and efficacy are supported by over 110 scientific publications, including more than 20 clinical trials, making it the most comprehensively studied prebiotic of its kind.
The scientific backing underscores its influence on various aspects of gastrointestinal, digestive, immune, and cognitive health.

According to research firm Mordor Intelligence, the European prebiotics market is projected to experience a robust compound annual growth rate of over 7%, powered by growing consumer demand.
Bimuno GOS background
Recent data published in the European Journal of Sport Science indicated that daily supplementation with 2.9 grams per of Clasado’s Bimuno GOS experienced a two-day reduction the duration of symptoms of upper respiratory infection.
Secretion of salivary immunoglobulin A (sIgA), the main immune factor in saliva and known to be the first line of defence in protecting against infection, was also increased by 42% in elite rugby players receiving the prebiotic after 168 days of supplementation.
The scientists from Nottingham Trent University, the University of Reading, and London Irish Rugby Football Club., said in their report: “To our knowledge, this is the first study to assess the effect of a prebiotic dietary intervention on URS [upper respiratory symptoms] and GIS [gastrointestinal symptoms] in an elite-athletic population.
“The 2-day reduction in URS episode duration is relevant for athletes and coaches, potentially aiding a quicker return to play following a URS episode.”
Just last Spring, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) gave the thumbs up to extending the use of Bimuno’s galactooligosaccharises (GOS) as a novel food for use in special medical purposes (FSMP).
The opinion by the food authority paved the way for Bimuno GOS to be used for the dietary management of impaired gastrointestinal issues in hospitalised patients.
