CJ Bio adds Bifidobacterium to probiotic ingredients portfolio
South Korea’s CJ Bio, the functional ingredients arm of CJ Group, has added Bifidobacterium strains into its probiotics ingredients portfolio for the first time.
Two Bifidobacterium strains - Bifidobacterium bifidum PRO G814 and Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis PRO G952 - have been added to its portfolio which is currently dominated by Lactobacillus strains.
CJ Bio debuted the two strains under its ingredients brand trademarked BiomeNrich during the recent Vitafoods Europe held at Barcelona.

Kaneka is a supplier of Ubiquinol, which is mitochondrial co-factor and antioxidant that is said to support mitochondrial activities and areas such as fertility.

Australian firm NiHTEK said it has developed a plant-based protein that mimics the advantages of whey, while bypassing concerns around dairy allergies and intolerance.
The protein trademarked NiHPRO is a hydrolysed protein isolate made using three key ingredients, pea protein, rice protein, and essential amino acids.
No dairy is used. However, the company stressed that by using a specific production technique, the plant-based protein is also “dairy-friendly” as it mimics the mouthfeel, digestibility, and amino acid profiles of whey protein isolate.
