NutraWomen Wednesday: Sinclair Kennally, founder and CEO, Detox Nation

The certified nutrition consultant and toxicity and detox specialist shared her journey into detox education which stemmed from her own experiences with complex chronic illnesses.

After Sinclair Kennally and her partner and co-founder Michael Spandel discovered their chronic conditions were toxin-induced, they founded Detox Nation, a platform aimed at helping others reclaim their health in a consumer-friendly way.

“The message that toxins are bad and they’re everywhere is getting blasted from the rooftops. But what’s not being shared is that this is fixable and you don’t have to suffer just because you’ve had these exposures,” she said.

“Yes, they can be very harmful to the nervous system, making you over-reactive. They can be disruptive to your endocrine system, distorting your hormones. They can hurt your gut health, distort your gut microbiome, but they can be fleshed out. Your body knows how to do that. It just didn’t evolve with these substances. So I see our primary mission and our whole job is to scale our message that this is still fixable and suffering is optional and that you’re way more in charge than you think you are.”

The conversation highlights the need for more consumer education about health, particularly the effects of environmental toxins like herbicides and pesticides and how they can affect everything from mood, to gut health to how women experience various life stages. Kennally emphasized simple, yet practical advice like improving water quality.

If she could give one piece of health advice, Kennally offered one simple modification:

“Change your water. Because you’re getting poisoned and you don’t know it. It’s impacting your mood, your mental clarity. It’s even hurting your IQ, but that is reversible,” she said. “A cheap option is to distill your water. You can get a cheap one on Amazon, return it if you don’t like it, and just add trace minerals to that. It tastes wonderful and your body can start healing itself.”
