NutraWomen Wednesday: Mary Beech, Chief Growth Officer, Thorne

After a life-altering health scare in her 30s, Mary Beech, now chief growth officer at Thorne, recounts her transformative journey from a high-powered corporate executive to a passionate advocate for health and wellness.

Beech reflected on her rich career experiences at major brands like Scholastic, Disney and Kate Spade, emphasizing the importance of connecting with consumers on a personal level and understanding their needs. Her experiences have taught her that accountability in serving people with passion—especially in wellness—holds profound responsibility and privilege.

“It just really hit me that at the end of the day, it’s about the consumer, and it’s easy to lose that in a corporate world, that what you’re doing is ultimately going to be utilized or in service of a person who has real feelings, who has a life that you are a part of—and that accountability and responsibility, it’s never left,“ she said. ”I think working in the supplement industry, it’s even more clear because it’s something you’re literally taking into your body to help further your life and your wellness."

Beech, who has completed 13 marathons, said she applies the “negative split mentality”—the concept of completing the second half of a race faster than the first half—to her personal and now professional life. Viewing her career as peaks and downhills, she said she believes that there is always room for improvement. Beech has successfully implemented this concept in her work at Thorne, where she has a great team committed to consumer satisfaction and high-quality products. She looks back on big achievements and opportunities to improve, whether it’s in process, support or consumer experience.

Looking ahead, Beech shared that she is excited about launching new products that meet consumer needs and sharing Thorne’s story through engaging marketing campaigns.

“It feels really good to have wins,” she said. “I’m Thorne’s chief growth officer, so I get to be part of a company experiencing explosive growth. I get to be part of helping drive that growth and being able to be part of the planning and the execution of really exciting initiatives.”
