Bioriginal is gathering six of its companies under one organization, promising that the unified group will deliver greater value and efficiency to partners.

The company stated that the move marked a major milestone in becoming a fully-integrated global organization. The Bioriginal Group of Companies, itself a subsidiary of Cooke Inc., will operate across the food, nutraceutical and animal nutrition industries.

By uniting the companies under a single banner, Bioriginal seeks to to combine specialized expertise to provide end-to-end nutritional solutions, including ingredient sourcing, formulation to processing, product development and finished goods manufacturing.

A company spokesperson told NutraIngredients that the integrated global operations would also allow it to provide “a more comprehensive and efficient suite of services” for customers.

“By unifying sourcing, formulation, processing and manufacturing under the Bioriginal Group of Companies, we can offer stronger supply-chain reliability, faster development timelines and expanded technical expertise,” they added.

A global organization

The newly created group is formed of the following companies:

  • Bioriginal: Global supplier of nutritional ingredients and turnkey solutions for food, nutraceutical and animal nutrition applications, with operations across Bioriginal North America (Canada), Bioriginal EMEA (Netherlands) and Bioriginal Asia (Japan).
  • Cyvex Nutrition: Based in the United States, Cyvex specializes in ingredients for dietary supplements, food and beverage, and animal nutrition products.
  • Kroppenstedter Ölmühle: Located in Germany, the company processes oils, flours and press cakes for food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical and renewable applications.
  • POS Biosciences: Based in Canada, POS specializes in oil and protein extraction, offering R&D, process development, manufacturing and analytical services.

Bioriginal has been expanding its portfolio with a series of global acquisitions, such as the deals to acquire Softgel and POS Biosciences, both carried out last year. The decision to unite them under the umbrella of the Bioriginal Group of Companies was made clarly convey the full scope of the group’s expertise to partners, the company’s spokesperson said.

“It also responds to increasing market demand for secure supply chains, trusted suppliers and turnkey solutions that can support product development from concept to shelf,” they stated.

In terms of the potential benefits delivered to partners, the spokesperson said that unifying global operations into a “central hub” will allow for faster development timelines and expanded technical expertise, in addition to providing a single, coordinated pathway for partners across human and animal nutrition markets.

Though the announcement is not marked by capital expenditure, the spokesperson confirmed that the decision “reflects ongoing investments across its global operations,” particularly in strengthening processing capabilities, manufacturing capacity and product innovation.

“Several new product developments are in progress across the group, and we look forward to sharing more details as those become ready,” they added.
