POCARI SWEAT maker adds kaempferol to new supplement line-up

Otsuka Pharmaceutical, the maker of electrolyte drink POCARI SWEAT, is adding a kaempferol supplement to its line-up.

Launched under the brand /zeroz, the product, which comes in tablet form, contains 10mg of kaempferol derived from horseradish leaves as the only active ingredient.

Kaempferol was chosen after assessing 341 types of high-altitude foods from around the world.

New pharmacovigilance survey on natural health products to roll out globally

A new survey covering global pharmacovigilance approaches in the natural health products sector is launching soon and will be extended to over 200 industry organizations and regulatory bodies, including those in China and other Asia-Pacific (APAC) countries.

These include Japan, South Korea, India, and Australia, as there is high expenditure on health in these countries.

The survey is led by principal investigator Professor Jo Barnes, deputy head at the School of Pharmacy, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at New Zealand’s University of Auckland.

Through a combination of open-ended and tick box-type questions, the survey is designed to gather perspectives from the dietary supplements and natural health products industry stakeholders and medicines regulators on pharmacovigilance approaches.

Otsuka Pharma beefs up POCARI SWEAT production in China

Otsuka Pharmaceutical is ramping up production in China with a newly opened factory in Tianjin.

The Japanese company expects to produce 300m 500ml POCARI SWEAT bottles annually in this facility, which would increase annual production capacity by about 2.5 times.

Demand for hydration and electrolyte beverages is rising in Northern China, a trend the new Tianjin factory will address, according to Otsuka Pharma.
