The deal adds sourcing and manufacturing capabilities to Laird Superfood’s business, extending its push into the superfoods category by capitalizing on Terrasoul’s experience running its own processing and packaging operations for bulk ingredients and finished products, including functional beverage mix-ins.
The acquisition follows Laird Superfood’s earlier deal involving Navitas Organics, part of a broader effort to expand its position in superfoods. Both brands have been identified as “key players” in a value chain analysis by Towards Food and Beverage Consulting Ltd., suggesting that Laird Superfood is consolidating established positions in the U.S. superfoods market.
The U.S. superfoods market was valued at $58.84 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $89.64 billion by 2035, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 4.3%, according to the firm. That steady growth has supported continued M&A activity in the category.
Terrasoul generated approximately $65.8 million in net sales in 2025, while the transaction includes a potential earnout of up to $5 million tied to performance targets, Laird Superfoods’ press statement confirmed. Funding came through a private placement of Series A Convertible Preferred Stock to Nexus affiliates, leaving the firm with an ownership stake of about 71.7% on a fully diluted basis.
‘Significant step forward’ for functional nutrition strategy
Laird Superfood framed the deal as part of its ongoing expansion in functional nutrition.
“This is a significant step forward in our mission to build the premier platform in superfoods and functional nutrition, [as] Terrasoul’s established online marketplace presence, proprietary supply chain infrastructure, and high-quality product portfolio are strongly aligned with our long-term strategic priorities,” said Jason Vieth, Chief Executive Officer of Laird Superfood, in the company’s release.
He added that the deal will “meaningfully accelerate our ability to serve consumers across channels at scale.”
In the same statement, Terrasoul’s leadership emphasized continuity in how the business operates.
“Terrasoul was built with a commitment to delivering high-quality superfoods through a transparent and vertically integrated model, [and] our partnership with Laird Superfood marks an exciting next chapter for the brand,” said Dennis Botts, co-founder and chief executive officer of Terrasoul Superfoods.
Vertical integration in focus
The transaction highlights the role of integrated supply chains in the category, particularly as brands look to manage sourcing and production more directly.
“Terrasoul is a high-quality business operating in a large and growing category, with a differentiated supply chain model and a demonstrated ability to build consumer loyalty at scale,” said Kayla Dean Obia, Principal at Nexus Capital, in the press release.
Dean Obia added that “this acquisition reinforces our conviction in the functional nutrition category and represents a compelling opportunity to drive incremental value across the combined platform.”
