Industry experts from China and Indonesia detail the latest trends, policies and insights from these two crucial markets at this year’s Growth Asia Summit 2026.

Zhang Zhong Peng, secretary-general at China Nutrition and Health Food Association (CNHFA), will highlight evolving trends in China’s health supplement industry, including how Chinese companies are paying greater attention to overseas market expansion.

In his presentation, titled “China’s Nutritional and Health Food Industry: Going Global and Bringing In”, Zhang will explain how overseas brands entering China could adapt to local market needs through specific case studies.

He will also provide tips on how companies can prepare for new regulatory developments in China, especially those related to cross-border e-commerce activity and livestreaming advertising and promotion.

Spotlight on Indonesia and new halal requirements

Zhang will be joined by Decky Yao, chairman of the Indonesian health supplements association Asosiasi Pengusaha Suplemen Kesehatan Indonesia (APSKI).

In his presentation titled “Indonesia’s health supplement market: Growth potential and challenges”, Yao will outline key consumer trends and growth potential in Indonesia’s health supplement market.

With the pending mandatory halal certification for health supplements sold in Indonesia, Yao will also talk about how companies should prepare for the certification which will be enforced from October 2026.

This is also the first time that the summit is joined by an industry expert from Indonesia.

Meanwhile, John O’Doherty, CEO of Complementary Medicines Australia (CMA), will also be speaking at a panel discussion focusing on new regulatory developments across APAC.

And representatives from New Zealand brands, suppliers and its exports agency will be detailing how it punches above its weight on the global stage.

The three-day program

The three-day summit will cover the hottest themes trending in Asia-Pacific’s health and nutrition sector, including Protein and Healthier Product Innovation, Infant and Childhood Nutrition, Maternal and Women’s Health, Active Nutrition and Healthy Ageing and Healthspan Advances.
