the UK’s largest mail-order supplier of vitamins, minerals and health supplements, Healthspan Elite, has joined the European Specialist Sports Nutrition Alliance (ESSNA).

Based on the Channel Island of Guernsey, Healthspan was founded in 1996 but the Elite brand was launched in 2014 specifically to support the needs of professional and competing athletes.

Chris Fisher, Head of Healthspan Elite, said: “ESSNA is a very credible association in the sports nutrition industry, and one we’re very proud to be a new member of. We hope that being part of ESSNA will provide assurance to our customers and partners of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards in everything we do. We look forward to the added industry insight and governance that ESSNA provide”

With more than 50 companies from across Europe, ESSNA acts as a forum for discussion and a vehicle for action for the sports nutrition sector by working closely with legislators, regulators and enforcement bodies to ensure that the sports nutrition products are safe, effective, easily available and transparent.

The alliance monitors the industry, reporting irresponsible companies that flout EU law and may put consumers at potential risk from dangerous products, and works to better educate the public on the responsible and safe approaches to sports nutrition.

Adam Carey, Chair of ESSNA, said: “ESSNA’s ethos on safe retailing of sports nutrition products and strong commitment to work alongside legislators at both European and national level to ensure a strong voice for the sports nutrition industry is of great importance to all our members.

We are delighted to welcome Healthspan Elite to ESSNA and very much look forward to working alongside them in future, hoping that the team will make full use of the value of joining our industry body.”
