NutraCast: “biological age” vs. chronological age

Related tags: nutracast, cellular aging

We all know our age. But how old does our body think it is? One test looks at “biological age” vs. chronological age and Terrain Health is just one of a dozen approved companies in the nation offering a biomarker-based evaluation called Agebio, a test by Thorne that provides a DNA-based health analysis of health.

Terrain Health’s Dr. Robin Rose, a board-certified specialist in gastroenterology and internal medicine, joined the NutraCast to explain how AgeBio works.

“Our biological age is basically how quickly or slowly our DNA cells and organs are aging, but we can change that. We have all the power in the world to change that. And the way we can do that is by changing the way we live our lives,” said Rose.

She explained that the first thing she looks at is the age of one’s DNA, or biological age. This is followed by a blood panel for next-generation biomarkers that will reveal how the patient is aging, detoxifying and handling stress.

Thorne’s multi-omic testing, powered by Onegevity Health Intelligence, uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to create an in-depth and accurate picture of a patient’s biological age, blood age, lipid age, liver age, kidney age and metabolic age.

The test allows users to identify the actions they can take to maintain and even improve their health.
