Euromed, Monteloeder and Pharmactive to showcase untapped botanical potential at Vitafoods
The three-day trade show, held from May 14 to 16, will highlight the latest nutraceutical innovations, trends and research to a Europe-wide audience.
Euromed will showcase its natural herbal extracts, focusing on CuberUp, a cucumber extract for joint health, backed by a recent study showing positive effects on knee pain and mobility.
Monteloeder will present RelaxPLX, a lemon verbena extract for sleep quality, and Zeropollution, a blend protecting skin from environmental damage.
Pharmactive will feature Affron, a saffron extract for mood and stress relief, and ABG+ aged black garlic extract for managing cholesterol and blood pressure.
Med diet inspired
Euromed, the German botanical extract supplier, will highlight a range of natural herbal extracts inspired by the Mediterranean diet, with a focus on its new cucumber extract CuberUp, and its potentially promising natural approach to the maintenance of healthy joints.
The company notes that joint health support is crucial not only for healthy aging but also for sportspeople. Therefore, CuberUp offers a promising approach for all those struggling with joint problems or looking to prevent them.
In a recent double-blind clinical study, CuberUp was found to have a positive impact on knee pain, mobility and muscle function in people over 40 years with knee function limitations.
It joins the company’s range of Mediterranean fruit and vegetable extracts including lemon, pomegranate, olive, artichoke, fig and spinach. As with all Euromed extracts, CuberUp is processed with a proprietary extraction technology that uses purified water as the solvent.
Sleep and beauty studies
Global ingredient supplier Monteloeder will unveil its latest research on the mechanisms and advantages of two botanical blends.
First, its lemon verbena extract RelaxPLX will be showcased for its sleep quality-enhancing properties.
The extract has been previously found to reduce anxiety and improve sleep. According to Monteloeder researchers, the extract binds to specific receptors in the body and produces a sedative effect to reduce stress in a similar way to benzodiazepines but without undesirable side effects or risk of dependency.
Secondly, Monteloeder will present the mechanisms of Zeropollution as its beauty from within solution, which was found to protect skin from environmental damage in a recent preclinical study.
The firm spotlighted the blend's ability to tackle the root causes of pollution-induced skin damage by counteracting the increased production of free radicals, preventing inflammatory responses, preserving the skin barrier and inhibiting Aryl hydrocarbon receptor activation.
Mood and blood pressure solutions
Spanish ingredients developer Pharmactive Biotech Products will showcase two botanical ingredients: its saffron extract Affron and ABG+, an aged black garlic extract.
Affron has been shown to enhance mood and address occasional states of stress and anxiety, as well as confer positive effects on sleep quality. Recent research concluded that Affron was able to normalize HPA axis dysregulation following chronic mild stress stimulation.
The patented ingredient will be on display in multiple flavors of gummy, each formulated with 15 mg of Affron.
And ABG+ aged black garlic has been shown to aid in managing cholesterol and blood pressure. One recent study found that the aged black garlic extract could be used to relieve high blood pressure in people with Grade-1 hypertension who are already receiving prescribed drug treatment.
After blood serum tests the researchers discovered that the extract can boost the release of nitric oxide and increase the body’s antioxidant capacity.
