Leveraging livestreaming: Noromega looks to replicate China success in Thailand

Norwegian supplements brand Noromega sheds light on the key strategies that drove its successes in China, which it seeks to replicate in Thailand.

After entering China via cross-border e-commerce in 2018, the brand reached cumulative sales of USD100m in the market last year.

According to Derek Liu, CEO of Noromega, the expansion of sales channels, particularly livestreaming platforms, was the main contributor to the brand’s rapid growth in China.

Guardian, Mannings to feature menopause-friendly product aisle in mid-2026

Guardian and Mannings, both pharmacy chains under DFI Retail Group, will feature “menopause-friendly” product aisles in five Asian markets come mid-2026.

Guardian, for instance, will feature these aisles in its outlets across Singapore, Malaysia, and Indonesia, while the same will happen for Mannings’ outlets in Hong Kong and Macau.

These “menopause-friendly” aisles will include products across health supplements, skincare, and cosmetics.

China nutra import H1 2025: Australia slides to 3rd place as fish oil demand slows

For years, Australia has been China’s second largest nutraceutical exporter, behind only the US, but is overtaken by Germany of late – a trend that started last year and has continued into the first half of this year.

The China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Medicines & Health Products (CCCMHPIE) noted in its report that the rapid rise of German brands in China has shown the domestic demand for products from reputable brands of high quality.

In contrast, exports from Australia dipped 27.8% year-on-year (yoy) to US$392m – equivalent to a market share of 9.8%, significantly lower than last year’s 15.1%. The substantial drop was linked to a 33% decline in fish oil exports from Australia.

Tariff impact: China health foods exports to US down 12.2% in first half 2025

China’s health foods exports to the US had fallen 12.2% year-on-year in the first half of 2025 – possibly a result of US tariffs policy – says the CCCMHPIE.

The US is traditionally the largest export destination of China’s health foods products but slipped to the second place, behind Hong Kong.

On the other hand, China’s exports to The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) continued to grow during the period, with Malaysia, Vietnam, and Indonesia becoming the 3rd, 4th, and 5th largest health foods export destinations.

Probiotic Akkermansia may help manage weight and slim waists, says RCT

Daily supplementation with probiotic Akkermansia muciniphila may promote healthy body weight and help slim waistlines, says a new study from China.

Data published in Food Science and Human Wellness indicated that eight weeks of supplementation with both probiotic (live) and postbiotic (pasteurized) forms of A. muciniphila led to reductions in body weight and BMI, with the probiotic performing better than the postbiotic, compared to placebo.

Significant reductions compared to placebo were also reported for the probiotic form for a range of lipid measures, including total cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL-cholesterol.
