Nestlé recalls infant formulas due to potential presence of toxin
Nestlé is recalling infant formulas sold across Australia, Mainland China, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Europe and South America as a precautionary measure against the potential presence of the toxin cereulide.
Cereulide was detected in arachidonic acid (ARA) oil used during the production of its infant formulas.
In Hong Kong, Nestlé put up a voluntary recall notice for products under the Nestlé NAN and Wyeth range on Jan 6. The company also released a recall notice in China, where 41 batches of products were affected.

The findings were published in International Immunopharmacology and conducted by researchers from Henan University of Science and Technology’s College of Food and Bioengineering, and Wecare Probiotics Co., Ltd.
A total of 52 children aged six to 10 with allergic rhinitis were randomized to take two gummies containing W. coagulans BC99 or a placebo made of dextrin during the eight-week study.

China dairy giant Yili is going beyond general milk products and infant nutrition by diving into healthy aging needs against the backdrop of a greying population and increased consumer interest in metabolic health.

Diversification across the Asia-Pacific region is gathering pace and fuelling growth for Australia’s supplements sector, according to new data.
China (including Hong Kong) continues to dominate as the largest export destination, accounting for $690 million, or 68% of total exports.
However, diversification is gathering pace, with Vietnam strengthening its position as the second-largest market ($86 million, 8%), followed by New Zealand ($49 million, 3%), South Korea ($32 million, 3%) and Thailand ($31 million, 3%).
