Ashwagandha lowers stress, triglycerides in hypertensive population - 60-day study

Ashwagandha supplementation for 60 days has been shown to improve stress and anxiety, as well as triglyceride levels in individuals with mild stress, anxiety and hypertension.

Serum cortisol, daytime sleepiness, fatigue, triglycerides, and blood pressure-related parameters also improved when supplemented with 600mg of Ashwagandha daily during the study period.

Health tracking apps could improve body weight and body mass index (BMI) but not total cholesterol levels and dietary intake, according to new findings published in The Lancet Digital Health.

Apart from cardiometabolic parameters, health tracking apps were found to be effective for glucose management, such as regulating HbA1c and fasting blood glucose concentrations and for improving anxiety, stress and other areas related to mental health.

The study, conducted by researchers from the Nestlé Institute of Health Sciences, the University of South Australia, Central Queensland University, and tertiary institutions in the UK, US and Canada, is said to be the first comprehensive, quantitative synthesis of app-based interventions across various health outcomes and non-communicable disease metrics in adults.

It aims to establish whether these improvements can be confirmed under more rigorous conditions and in a larger, more diverse patient population.

Supplementation with oleoylethanolamide (OEA) could significantly increase the body’s production of GLP-1, according to new findings published in Frontiers in Endocrinology.

A single-blind, placebo-controlled, fixed-sequence, crossover clinical study conducted in Brisbane, Australia, reported that serum glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) levels could increase as soon as 15 minutes after taking OEA.

Taking OEA at a dose of 300mg was also found to produce GLP-1 at concentrations 20% to 25% higher than placebo.
