Japanese cosmetics major Shiseido has launched a beauty-from-within product set, consisting of its bestselling functional drink and a newly launched jelly stick, on the back of positive consumer feedback for this supplementation combination.

Each product set comprises two of The Collagen drink and five of The Collagen Beauty Jelly sticks for a weekly inner beauty routine.

The Collagen drink, which has reached cumulative sales of 350m units to date, contains two patented ingredients—a blend of lingonberry and amla fruit extracts, and tomato seed extract—as well as low molecular weight fish collagen, cherry blossom extract, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C, ceramide, GABA, and crocetin.

The jelly product contains the same two patented ingredients, lactic acid bacteria, low molecular weight fish collagen, cherry blossom extract, hyaluronic acid, and vitamin C.

A survey conducted by Shiseido in December 2025 involving 207 women aged between 20 and 59 found that supplement drinks are most often consumed “before special occasions or for intensive care”, while jellies are most frequently eaten “as part of a daily beauty routine”.

In another survey held last December, 102 women aged 20 to 59 consumed The Collagen drink twice a week and Beauty Jelly five times a week. Results showed that 86% of the participants were “very satisfied”, “satisfied” or “somewhat satisfied” with this supplement combination after one week of continuous intake.

“By using jelly to build a solid foundation for your daily beauty routine, and then using a special drink to quickly recharge your appearance before important events, you can create a well-balanced ritual that suits you,” Shiseido stated.

“Our preliminary surveys confirmed the differences in consumption scenarios of the two dosage forms and the ability to use them in combination, which allows users to keep up with supplementation without getting bored and in turn increases satisfaction.”

Furthermore, in response to consumer feedback that beauty drinks and supplements are often “too expensive”, and that they are hesitant to try them due to concerns about the taste, texture or ease of consumption, The Collagen Visuage Set has a recommended retail price of JPY1,393 (USD8.86)

“We paid close attention to the packaging as well, expressing a freshness that reflects the tastiness and texture of the product; and created a brand new design with a special gradient color that sets it apart from previous The Collagen products.”

Launched on October 21, The Collagen Visuage Set is available at health and beauty drugstore chain Matsumoto Kiyoshi, and drugstore and pharmacy network Cocokara Fine Group stores across Japan. It is also sold via the Matsukiyo Cocokara online store.

New jelly product well-received

Shiseido first debuted The Collagen supplement range in 1996. Since its inception, the brand has expanded its product line to include drinks, tablets and powders, supporting the beauty and wellness of women leading busy lives with diverse lifestyles.

The patent for the lingonberry and amla fruit ingredient—selected from over 300 candidates—was obtained in 2012.

As part of Shiseido’s 30th anniversary project for The Collagen, the Beauty Jelly was launched on August 21 this year.

According to the company, the product is “already a staple” in over 10,000 drugstores and general merchandise stores nationwide, and has garnered attention from various media outlets.

“Consumers have praised it for being ‘delicious and easy to stick with’, ‘portable and can be eaten whenever you like’, ‘produces minimal waste’, and ‘not only is it guilt-free, but it is also a positive way to satisfy hunger’, making it a popular and convenient beauty habit.”
