China’s BYHEALTH tackles stress-related needs
From metabolism and sleep disruption to hair loss, China’s BYHEALTH says it sees an opportunity in addressing consumer needs arising from a high-stress, high-cortisol urban lifestyle.
“Stress is not only an emotional problem but is an actual signal in our nervous system,” Denise Zhu, product innovation lead at BYHEALTH, told NutraIngredients at Growth Asia Summit 2026 held in Singapore.
Using stress as a starting point, the company has identified new research and areas for product innovation, which Zhu highlighted during her presentation.
a2MC’s FY26 revenue suffers from supply chain disruption
The a2 Milk Company said that its FY26 revenue has been affected by supply chain disruption in its infant formula business and the effects are expected to last until early FY27.
Out-of-stock situations for its China-label infant milk formulas in Q4 have led consumers to switch to competitor brands. Currently, uptake of these products is estimated at 40% of the pre-disruption level.
The New Zealand-based company reported a 12.4% increase in revenue to NZD$1.97 billion (US$1.17bn) during its annual results presentation on August 17. Net profit after tax fell 5.8% to NZD$207.5 million (US$122.8m).

Can ‘Made in EU’ labels give European supplement brands an edge in China?
The ‘Made in EU’ label is gaining value in China’s nutraceutical market, but success will depend on combining European provenance with scientific credibility and an understanding of local consumers, say industry experts.
According to Alexandre Blanc, global director of nutraceuticals at Barentz, the scale and speed of China’s health market are creating new opportunities for ingredient suppliers and brands willing to adapt their approach to local consumer behavior.
“I’ve seen ingredient producers create China-specific brands to sell through channels that are less common in Europe,” Blanc said. “Some have generated extraordinary sales, such as selling €7 million of product in just four or five hours through influencer-led campaigns. This shows the strength of Chinese consumer demand—and ultimately, B2B markets follow where consumers lead.”
Probiotic may boost mood and emotional health for older adults: RCT
Daily supplementation with Pediococcus acidilactici PA53 may improve gastrointestinal health, sleep quality, and happiness scores in older adults, says a new study from China.
Data published in The Journal of Nutrition indicated that eight weeks of supplementation was also associated with decreases in markers of inflammation, including IL-6 and TNF-alpha.
According to scientists from Henan University of Technology and the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, Pediococcus acidilactici PA53 has emerged as a safe and effective intervention for enhancing digestive function and modulating inflammatory pathways in older adults.
