Healthcare giant Johnson & Johnson has left the race to buy Pfizer’s consumer health unit – leaving GlaxoSmithKline, Nestlé and Reckitt Benckiser as favourites for the €16 billion deal.
CT-based Competitive Technologies said last week that drugmaker
Wyeth has filed an appeal with the US Supreme Court to overturn a
$58 million patent infringement award granted by a federal court to
the University of Colorado.
Sales at Wyeth consumer healthcare decreased 6 per cent in the 2002
fourth quarter and 3 per cent for the 2002 full year. Poor
performance of the cough and cold products was however partly
offset by sales of Centrum vitamins.
US pharmaceuticals firm American Home Products changed its name to
Wyeth on Monday, a move analysts said would help erase memories of
the fen-phen slimming cocktail nightmare that cost it $13 billion.
